3 easy steps on how to begin your morning to have a great day

"If you start the day right, you end it right" as my sister always say. I never really was a morning person.. at all! My mornings used to be saturated with my alarms going off and me snoozing it over and over, missing breakfast and not having enough time to put my look together. I always ended my day tired. The dreaded life of a student!

Finally being able to put myself together after college, I discovered some simple morning rituals to carry out before you start your day.

Step 1

  1. It starts from the day before: resolve any lingering issues of concerns, worries and disputes if any. Unresolved matters have a tendency to be the last thing you think of at night and potentially the morning after.
  2. Create a bed time: Having a set bed time ensures you wake up at a distinct time in the morning. If you sleep 8 or 7 hours make sure you go to bed early enough to wake up early as well. This requires and strengthen discipline. 
  3. Eliminate the alarm clock: having to wake up by the alarm is an indication you are not getting enough sleep and this may lead to crankiness throughout the day. As I said earlier, go to bed early.

Step 2

  1. Take 5: Before you leave your bed, take some minutes to collect your thoughts and project it on how you want your day to be. Meditate for a few minutes, take deep breaths and make mental plans for your day.
  2. Shower: Having a shower an evening before may seem convenient to most people but showering in the morning feels much more refreshing and invigorating. It gets you feeling fresh and ready for the day. I recommend and evening and morning shower. 

Step 3

  1. Don't miss breakfast: there's a reason why breakfast is called the  most important meal of the day. Aside from providing us with key nutrients which are mostly gotten from breakfast foods. breakfast is responsible for the cognitive function of the brain. According to ShakeUpYourWakeUp, eating breakfast can improve memory and concentration levels and can also make us happier as it can improve the mood and lower stress levels throughout the day.
